Which tests are needed for IVF?

The exact list is given by the doctor at the first consultation after history and examination; the tests usually required are:

For the woman:
— Hormones in the first days of the cycle (AMH, FSH, LH, oestradiol), thyroid (TSH), prolactin.
— Ultrasound: antral follicle count, uterus and lining.
— Tubal assessment (HSG) — a previous report if available.
— Infection screening (hepatitis B, C, HIV, syphilis), blood group, general tests; certain antibodies.
— Cervical smear (PAP), breast assessment if needed.

For the man:
— Semen analysis (at least two, a few weeks apart).
— Infection screening (hepatitis B, C, HIV, syphilis).
— Where indicated: hormones, scrotal ultrasound, genetic tests.

Valid results from the last year are not repeated — bring them with you. Some tests are done on specific cycle days; the doctor plans this.
